We make it possible to map anything

localthings started from the frustration that so many local things — from public toilets to foraging spots — are surprisingly hard to find online. And when you do find them, you are left wondering whether the information is still right.

Now we hand that mapping technology to everyone through Studio. Organisations, makers and local projects use it to build their own map without code, in their own branding. Public maps can then find a place in Atlas, where people discover them alongside our Community Map.

We also use localthings for civic projects, such as Stembuswijzer.nl during the 2025 Dutch general election — picked up by indebuurt, Het Parool and Radio 1.
